Lelystad Airport
Lelystad Airport has been in existence for over 50 years and is ready to become the new vacation airport of the Netherlands.
Our journey dates back to 1973 when we first landed on what was then a grass runway just outside Lelystad. Since 1993, we have been part of the Royal Schiphol Group, growing into an important airport for General Aviation with 80,000 movements per year, making us the second busiest airport in the Netherlands.
Lelystad Airport has been prepared to serve as the overflow airport for Schiphol, as established in the Alders Agreement in 2008. The opening of Lelystad Airport for holiday flights offers the opportunity to move night flights from Schiphol to daytime operations at Lelystad Airport, benefiting both Schiphol’s neighbors and the economic opportunities for Flevoland. Luchthaven Lelystad operates Lelystad Airport as a fully owned subsidiary of Schiphol Group, trading under the name Lelystad Airport.
