For two weeks, Lelystad Airport was all about renovation work. In this video, we explain everything that has taken place.

Airport closure from 2 to 16 September 2024

 At 6 am on 2 September 2024, construction work will get underway at Lelystad Airport, continuing until 6 am on 16 September 2024. The work is necessary to ensure that the airport continues to operate safely. Throughout this period, Lelystad Airport will be closed to air traffic, and the taxiways and runway will not be available for use.

Construction work

Taxiway Sierra will be resurfaced and the roof of the control tower will be renewed. Maintenance work will also be carried out on the blast fence, the runway and infrastructure. The work is being concentrated within a short time frame to minimise future disruption.

Contractors

The work on Taxiway Sierra will be carried out by Dura Vermeer, an experienced construction firm specialising in infrastructure projects.

Jorritsma Bouw, one of the largest construction firms in the north of the Netherlands, will take care of the renovation work on the control tower.

De Wilde, a company from Lelystad specializing in earthworks, road construction, and civil engineering, is involved in various projects at Lelystad Airport.
